I’m a junior student in the Geoscience Department at Princeton University, specializing in geophysics: seismology (physics of earthquakes) and plate tectonics. Over summer, I had an opportunity to work at the University of Tokyo to conduct the seismic simulation using the finite-different method. As much as I love thinking about the power of the Earth, I am passionate about preventing natural phenomena from becoming natural disasters. Related to this point, I am also interested in disaster mitigation policies, the concept of “recovery,” and the establishment of collective memories on disasters. I want to explore what lies at the intersection of natural phenomena and human society.
