I am conducting interdisciplinary research across physics (chaotic dynamical systems and statistical physics), biology (metabolism and ecology), and (micro)economics.
For example, I have developed a new field of science, called “microeconomics of metabolism,” by integrating biology and economics. I am also trying to develop “statistical physics of cellular populations and ecosystems.”
By integrating these theories, I will establish a general theory for multi-scale biological systems. It will enable us to predict (metabolic) responses of biological systems such as cancer cells, immune systems, and microbial ecosystems against operational perturbations and control their behavior, possibly leading to the discovery of novel drug targets and therapeutic agents.
