Hi! I’m Samantha, a young blockchain developer from Toronto passionate about creating an impact with technology. I’m especially interested in the social impact of blockchain, having built a decentralized application for property registration in developing countries and a framework to secure industrial control systems and prevent cyberattacks on power plants. As a smart contract developer at ViewFin, I’m currently building a platform to prevent child labor in chocolate supply chains. I’m also working to publish a research paper on smart contract verification with a professor and PhD students at the University of Waterloo. In July 2020, I founded a non-profit called Superposition Toronto, dedicated to bridging the gender gap in STEM. Since then, we’ve reached 27 countries in all inhabited continents with our workshops, panels, and contests, and are currently launching a podcast and planning Toronto’s first all-women/non-binary hackathon open to students of all ages. I also participate in olympiad-level chemistry, and was invited to the National Training Camp in May 2021 and placed 1st worldwide on the Avogadro Chemistry Contest out of almost 3000 participants. I’m currently working to use my knowledge in chemistry to commercialize a company I founded called AeroPure, which uses polysaccharide aerogels to filter industrial waste from drinking water.
