I got a pet aibo and turtle around the age of nine. Since then, my life’s work is to think about how to design “communication robots” that can naturally live together with humans. I built communication robots in high school and university. When I was a student, for five years I was the leader of a robot development team that put on demonstrations for a cumulative total of 20,000 people, including in overseas countries. This experience made me realize that, if they are to capture the hearts of people, it is important that robots have living creature-like qualities. I moved to Silicon Valley after graduating from university. As an individual artist, I am currently engaged in NEOANIMA , a project to explore robots that resemble living creatures. I write about this project and display artworks while working to achieve relationships of co-existence between humans and the gentle, kind robots I envision in the future.
I also founded nocnoc communications, inc. based on the awareness of issues I gained from my activities as a creator. I am developing a voice chat app with a whiteboard. In this way, I am active both as an artist and as a businessperson.
